Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), or Oriental medicine is a  5,000-year-old system of health care. This  system of health care is used to heal the whole person, including disorders of the mind.

One component of TCM is the practice of acupuncture.

Acupuncture may be used to reduce stress and anxiety, as well as physical pain or illness. It creates physiological balance, the body's innate ability to self-regulate or self-heal.

Acupuncture involves stimulation of specific parts of the body by penetrating the skin with fine, metallic needles that are then manipulated by hand or by electrical stimulation. The needles, from one to four inches long, are sterilized and disposable. The sensation of their insertion is a quick, slight prick. Some people feel nothing at all, while others state it feels the same as a mosquito bite.

Acupuncture is extremely successful in the treatment of a multitude of conditions. Many people try Acupuncture as a "last resort" to serious and complex medical problems and find that it can help them when other treatments could not.
Acupuncture is also often used as a preventative medicine. Many people see their acupuncturist only 2-4 times a year for a "tune up" or "balancing" treatment. This can prevent disease and promote health, energy and vitality.

According to the World Health Organization’ (WHO) extensive research on Acupuncture, the following is a partial list of the conditions treated effectively by Acupuncture:
